On December 19, 2011, Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, and a collection of the usual suspects staged an orchestrated press conference on a piece of property on South Miami Avenue and 12th Street that had originally been targeted to be used for another downtown condo building before the economy went South.

With his flair for self-promotion, Sarnoff made the creation of this pocket park seem like a Christmas gift from Santa Claus, with amenities included for the dogs in the neighborhood. The event was intended as a demonstration that Commissioner “Ethics” was at the forefront of smart urban planning.

That was on December 19, 2011.

Below is what the property looks like on April 14, 2012.

Had this property been situated across the street from his house, “Ethics” would have left no stone unturned in order to get this park constructed, including if need be, misusing public funds.

But, this “park” isn’t close to Sarnoff’s house, so long after it should have been completed, it’s actually become more of an eyesore than it was when it was just a weed infested lot.SARNOFF_TRAFFIC_CIRCLE.htmlshapeimage_11_link_0

I wonder how many tax dollars have been spent so far in this boondoggle?
